Sexual Health & Contraception

All our doctors have training and expertise in sexual health and contraceptive services. We offer screening for sexually transmitted infections with blood and urine tests and where necessary swabs. We have an active cervical smear recall programme. Some of our nurses are qualified smear takers and offer appointments throughout the day. Appointments can be made before and after work and also at the weekend with the nurse or doctor. If you require a particular doctor or nurse please check when making your appointment.

For many of our enrolled and funded patients sexual health checks, smear tests and contraception consultations are partially or fully subsidised. In some cases they are FREE. We will advise  you when you attend or receive one of these services if you are eligible for a reduced or zero cost consultation.

Contraceptive prescribing is offered by all doctors.

Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD) or “coil” fitting appointments are available from Dr Karen Napier. Patients need a preliminary appointment for counselling and swabs with a longer appointment for the actual IUD fitting once the results are available. There is a fee for IUD fitting, please ask reception when you book.
